North America hosting the World Cup 2026

Oct 9, 2018
With the USA/CANADA/MEXICO all having a go at hosting the 2026 world cup, especially after Qatar, I was wondering how can the countries - in particular the MLS - leverage all that comes with a World Cup to 'improve' the league?

For me as an Englishman, it's a strange league system over there. In my eyes though, the standard of football has improved a lot over the years but I think with the upcoming hosting, there's potentially more that could be done just to make it a bit more en masse.

Maybe a more 'open' league system with promotion/relegation as opposed to the current system or more funding into grassroots football buoyed by the WC knocking on your door.

What do you think? How can this be leveraged for MLS's gain?
